mangosteen n Regarded as the most delicious of all fruits. It makes a very excellent preserve when the pulp together with the seed is boiled with sugar. The leaves and the bark are used as an astringent for the cure of aphtha, or thrush, and also as a febrifuge. The pericarps are regarded as very efficacious in curing chronic intestinal catarrh. A decoction of the pericarp is administered for dysentery, and it is used as a lotion. An infusion of the leaves along with unripe bananas and a little benzoin is applied to the wound in circumcision, and to other like wounds, while a decoction of the root is drunk for irregular menstruation. mangosteen Garcinia Mangostana
