Entries explained

The entries in the Buli online dictionary consist of a headword in black followed by a tone markings in brackets. Plural forms are indicated by pl. The abbreviation of the part of speech is shown in green and is italicized. The English definition is in blue. Example sentences are in black and are italicized. The English translation is in green and is italicized.

Some headwords have a definition in another language in red preceded by def. Homophones are indicated by subscripts. In the following example, the headword can serve as a noun or a verb.

Definite forms of nouns are marked by def. and are in light red. In the following example, complex forms of the headword are given with their tone markings:

When a word has related meanings, the definitions are numbered. The first definition below has an antonym indicated by ant. and displayed in red.
