Dedication

This dictionary is dedicated to Erik and Eeva Barendsen, who did so much work on this project,

and then gave their lives in Afghanistan on December 31, 1980.

We would like express gratitude to all those who have helped to gather words for this dictionary. Thank you also to those who have been involved in the typing and checking process. We continue to improve this dictionary and appreciate any comments you have.

Dr. Wilson mentions his gratitude to these people:  Nabi Tokhi, Dr. Aziz Ahmad Darmani, Professor Mohammad Ali, Dr. Rawan Farhad, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Magney, Mr. Eric Barendsen, Ghaussuddin Widi, Marshall Ghulam Ali Ayeen, and Professor Thomas Gouttiere. Later Betty Wilson and Farideh Wilson worked on entering the typewritten document into a Word document. Adam Baker generously offered linguistic support in many areas.

We are extremely grateful to the DLS (Dictionary and Lexicography Services) Department of SIL International for their help with software and many technical aspects.
