Introduction

 

The Duri language of Indonesia is spoken by about 130,000 people who reside in the province of South Sulawesi: north Enrekang regency; Makassar city and other communities.

The language is classified as: Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, South Sulawesi, Northern, Masenrempulu. The ISO code is [mvp]. Other names for Duri are: Masenrempulu and Massenrempulu. There are three dialects: Cakke-Kalosi, Baraka, and Benteng Alla.

The Duri people highly value their language and use it in various setting: home, community, religion.
