Introduction

 
The Hrê language of Vietnam is spoken by over 94,000 people who mainly reside in the provinces of Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Quang Ngai.

The language code from the Ethnologe is hre, and it is classified as Austro-Asiatic, Mon-Khmer, Eastern Mon-Khmer, Bahnaric, North Bahnaric, West, Sedang-Todrah, Sedang.

There are three dialects: Creq (Kare, Kre), Hrê, Rabah (Tava). It most similar to Sedang. There are radio programs produced in Hrê.

The Hre language region is in south central Vietnam, known as the Mon-Khmer language family area. Cultural elements originally came from the Hindu kingdoms of Khmer. Their culture and music is unique; they sing a melody called kaleu and have instruments called ching and aradon. Climate involves three seasons hot and dry from March to May, rainy from June to November, and cool and dry from November to February. The rainy season can include heavy rains.
