Introduction

Middle Kodut (Watut) is spoken by 1,700 people in Papua New Guinea. They live in Morobe province: Mumeng district, lower Watut valley, Babuaf (Madzim and Singono), Bencheng, Dungutung, and Marauna villages.

Also known as Middle Watut, this language is classified as: Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Central-Eastern Malayo-Polynesian, Eastern Malayo-Polynesian, Oceanic, Western Oceanic, North New Guinea, Huon Gulf, Markham, Watut. There are four dialects: Borar, Babuaf, Tsangg (Changg), Zowents (Jowench). The ISO code is mpl.

There is still much work to do, but we, the compilers have decided to publish this work-in-progress, in order to document the work we have done so far. Our ambition is to publish early and often.
