General thanks and acknowledgements

This initial trial of a Nyankpa-English dictionary is the culmination of the work and kind help of a great number of people. In part it grew out of a series of miniature word collection workshops undertaken in Barde and Tattara in the first half of 2019. Since that time, many others have become involved in the project in one capacity or another, and the compiler is indebted to so many members of the Nyankpa community in Barde, Tattara, Turkpa and Panda that it would be impossible to list them all individually here.

Special thanks and acknowledgements go to the following people:

To Odyɔŋ Nyankpa, Panda and Odyɔŋ Barigo, Barde, for their generous hospitality and contributions.
To Charlotte Yoder and Danielle Gootjes, for their invaluable contributions and friendship.
To Miss Rejoice Wenji, for her tireless efforts to help Anna and Charlotte to learn the language, always with a smile.
To Miss Margaret Bawa and Mr Yohanna Habila for their many hours of hard work.
To Pastor Sunday K Wenji and Mr. Alaska D Galadima, for their patient help throughout the checking process and for all their guidance and practical help.
To the many other members of the Wenji family who helped in innumerable ways, especially Markus and Blessing.
To Mr. Onum and Mr. Ottoh for their commitment and encouragement.
To Jonathan Barnhoorn, without whose supervision, encouragement and previous research this would have been impossible.
To many other members of SIL Nigeria for their help and advice, especially Katharine Mort and David Rowbory.
To the members of the Nyankpa Language and Bible Translation Committee for their support and practical help.
To the leaders and communities of Barde, Tattara, Turkpa and Panda, for their generosity, hospitality and willingness to be involved in this project.

Also, to any individuals left out of the list above who played any role, however small, in supporting Anna in her stay and helping to bring this project to completion, thank you. You are most sincerely appeciated.
