Foreword

This Nzime-French lexicon was developed by linguists Keith and Mary Beavon, who have worked with Nzime in southern Cameroon since 1976.

This lexicon was created to meet the needs of Nzime speakers, and serves as an orthographic standard. For those who do not speak Nzime, this simplified spelling is shown in most entries following the headword by a transcription in square brackets [] which indicates the tones.

It is a work in progress which must benefit from the combined effort of the speakers who can add the words which are not there. In the long run, when the language modernizes and acquires new words, it can be updated. Please leave you comments on the Contact Us page.
