Orthography

Following the orthographic conventions of the Benin government, the following are the orthographic symbols used to represent phonetic symbols of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

After the nasal consonants m, n, ny, and ŋ, vowels are assumed to be nasalized and are therefore not followed by an n. For example, [mã] is written as ma.
