Foreword

The Dassanach people highly value their language, which is used in various settings.  There are ongoing efforts to develop the language which include literature production, literacy, and dictionary development.  The number of Daasanach literate in their mother tongue is low but growing. There are non-formal literacy classes and texts for use by the speakers.
