Multilingual Setup

For visitors (to a Webonary site) to be able to view the web pages in more than one language, please contact us using the contact form. If the Webonary site was created from an existing multi-lingual template, multi-lingual pages should already be active and nothing further need be done. If your website uses more than one language you should be able to see links at the top of the page which allows the user to switch languages.

If the internal translations don’t yet exist for your language, please contact us using the contact form. We will give you instructions on how this information can be translated.

For translating pages, go to “Pages”. You will see the title, e.g. Introduction and language tabs above the text for your activated languages.

The title corresponds to the menu item, so normally you don’t need to translate the menu items separately. But in some cases where there is no page for the menu (just a link, for example “Link to Ethnologue”), you will need to go to Appearance – Menus and edit the item manually. To edit a menu item, click on the small arrow on the item and change the textfield “Navigation Label” and use the language codes, e.g. <!–:fr–>Lien vers Ethnologue<!–:–><!–:en–>Link to Ethnologue<!–:–>

Don’t forget to click on the button “Save Menu”.
