Foreword

The Ikizu-Sizaki people highly value their language, which is used in the home and at social gatherings.  There are ongoing efforts to develop the language which include literature production, literacy, and dictionary development.  The number of Ikizu-Sizaki literate in their mother tongue is low but growing. Around 75% of the Ikizu and Sizaki people are literate in Kiswahili, the widely used trade language.

Ikizu-Sizaki has been the focus of greater linguistic study since around 2006. Between 2009 and the present, some literature has been produced, including portions of the Bible.
