Introduction

The Kimaragang language is spoken by 25,000 people living in the Kota Marudu and Pitas districts of Sabah Malaysia on the northern part of the island of Borneo. Kimaragang [kqr] is part of the family of Dusun (or Kadazan) languages. This dictionary is specifically of the Kota Marudu dialect of Kimaragang. A few Pitas dialect words have been included, but we have not specifically sought out unique Pitas words. The spelling also reflects mainly the Kota Marudu dialect which will in some cases differ.
This dictionary has been compiled over more than 30 years, starting in 1987. A rough draft of this trilingual dictionary from letters A – R is completed, and that is what we have put online, along with the largely unchecked letters S – Z. The dictionary contains about 7,500 roots, with about 35,000 full forms. There is still much work to do, but we, the compilers have decided to publish this work-in-progress, in order to make available the work we have done so far.
