Introduction

Muna is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 300,000 people who primarily live on the island of Muna in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Outside of Muna there are sizable groups of Muna speakers in the provincial capital Kendari, as well as in Makassar and Ambon.

Currently Muna is losing speakers, as the younger generation is more fluent in Indonesian than in Muna.
