Introduction

 

The Murik language is spoken by over 3,000 people in Papua New Guinea, specifically in the East Sepik province: Angoram district, coast west of Sepik river mouth.

The language is classified as Ramu-Lower Sepik, Lower Sepik, Nor. The ISO code is mtf.

The literacy rate in Murik is about 5%. Children are tending to learn Tok Pisin and English. Writing involves using the Latin script.
