JacobSon of Isaac and Rebekah, twin to Esau. He was a schemer, which often got him into trouble, but God blessed him and used him to give rise to a nation of people. God later changed his name to Israel. He was the father of twelve sons who later became the heads of the twelve tribes of Israel. Throughout Scripture, his name is almost always mentioned together with those of Abraham and Isaac.
