BaalဗာလဘုရားName of a god that was worshipped in the Old Testament; Canaanite god of fertility and agriculture. Israel was forbidden to worship any other gods but Yahweh (Ex 34:13-14). Elijah took a stand against the prophets of Baal and defeated them as a testimony to all the people of Israel (Ex 18:19-40). ဓမ္မဟောင်းကာလတွင် ကိုးကွယ်သည့်ဘုရား၏နာမည်ဖြစ်သည်။ မျိုးအောင်ခြင်းနှင့်စိုက်ပျိုးခြင်းဆိုင်ရာ ခါနန်လူမျိုးတို့၏ဘုရားဖြစ်သည်။ ဣသရေလတို့သည် ထာဝရဘုရားမှတစ်ပါး အခြားမည်သည့်ဘုရား ကိုမှမကိုးကွယ်ရန် တားမြစ်ထားသည် (ထွ၊ ၃၄း၁၃-၁၄)။ ဧလိယသည် ဗာလပရောဖက်တို့ကို ပြင်း ထန်စွာဆန့်ကျင်လျက် နိုင်နင်းအောင်မြင်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် ဣသတရေလအမျိုးသားအားလုံးတို့ရှေ့တွင် သက် သေပြုနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ ဗာလဘုရား(Baal)နှင့်ဆိုင်သော ကုန်းရိုးပေါ်သို့ ပို့ဆောင်လေ၏။ တော၊ ၂၂:၄၁ထာဝရဘုရားကိုစွန့်၍ ဗာလဘုရား(Baal)၊ ……. ဝတ်ပြုကြသောကြောင့်၊ သူကြီး၊ ၂:၁၃ယေဇဗေလနှင့်စုံဖက်၍၊ ဗာလဘုရား(Baal)ကိုဝတ်ပြုကိုးကွယ်၏။ ၃ရာ၊ ၁၆:၃၁၃ရာ ၁၈:၂၆သို့ရာတွင် ဗာလ(Baal)ရှေ့၌ ဒူးထောက်ခြင်း၊ ၃ရာ ၁၉:၁၈ ထိုသို့ယေဟုသည် ဗာလ(Baal)ကို ဣသရေလပြည်မှ၊ ၄ရာ ၁၀:၂၈ဗာလဘုရား(Baal)ကိုလည်းဝတ်ပြုကြ၏။ ၄ရာ ၁၇:၁၆ဗာလ(Baal)ရှေ့၌ ဒူးမထောက်သော၊ ရော၊ ၁၁:၄
